Product Overview

Biochemazone Canine and Feline Simulated Tear Fluid BZ709 is a tear substitute for testing veterinary eye drops, ointments, dry-eye treatments and contact devices for dogs and cats. Human tear simulants differ from animal tears in protein content and composition, so species-specific fluids give more relevant results for veterinary products.

Each fluid contains the main tear electrolytes with bicarbonate buffering, together with lysozyme, albumin and mucin at levels set from published canine or feline tear data. It has a pH of about 7.5 (range 7.3–7.8). The proteins are animal-derived: lysozyme from hen egg white, bovine serum albumin and porcine gastric mucin.

Published values for animal tears vary between studies, breeds and sampling methods; we can adjust protein levels to your own reference data. Each batch is prepared with ISO 3696 compliant high-purity water under Biochemazone’s ISO 9001 / GMP quality system.
