Biochemazone Artificial Pulmonary Mucus BZ365, also called synthetic pulmonary mucus or simulated pulmonary mucus, is a sterile, ready-to-use solution that simulates the composition and pH of human pulmonary mucus. It can be used directly and is supplied at pH 7.0; the pH can be customized to the project requirement.
It has been formulated to match normal mucus in its physical, biological and chemical properties, with surface properties that match native mucus. It contains carbohydrates, glycoproteins, mucin, proteins, amino acids, vitamins and micronutrients. BZ365 gives laboratories a pulmonary mucus of constant composition for in vitro respiratory research.
It is supplied stabilized and has a 1-year shelf life unopened; a preservative-free version (6-month shelf life) and a dried Powder Version Kit are available on request. Because it contains protein and mucin, keep it at 2–8 °C if it is to be stored for a long time. The stabilizer, pH and contents can be customized to the project.
